I know, I couldn’t think of any better title for this post! Anyway, this past weekend has been mentally heightened musically. I’ve been supporting Kendrick Lamar since his Section 80 project and well, I couldn’t wait for this moment that he would release a studio album.

I don’t even know where to start! Good Kid, mA.A.d City takes you into the day in the life of Kendrick  growing up in Compton, CA. While driving his mother’s purple van, he explores all the adventures, with his friends, girls, and other schemes! It was creatively put together, using story telling and imagery, making you seriously feel that your right there with him. I also admire the incredible production done on this album. Kudos for that!

This was all around great piece of work. Kendrick did an amazing job bringing west coast hip-hop with an impeccable production back up in the likes of Dr Dre and others.
My FAVORITE Track : All of them. Believe me, that is ever so rare these days.

Go out and support great music y’all!

If you never heard of Kendrick Lamar (you’re crazy), here’s some songs that will get you warmed up:

I Gotta Feeling….

This song speaks through my soul!

J. Ivy is an incredible poet from Chicago alongside Chris Rob, who is playing the piano and singing his ass off.  If you never heard of J. Ivy, then let me refresh your memory….(comes in at 2:45):

Remember that amazing piece he delivered? He actually won a Grammy for that. Anyway, the spiritual and inspiring depths of his words are always thought provoking!

If you didn’t know, I am a sucker for underground music! I always find some great gems…this dude is incredibly talented!

This song just puts a HUGE smile on my face! Every lyric, the beat…just flows perfectly. It’s so uplifting and inspiring. For all those dream chasers out there, this song might be for you!

Voli is a rapper/producer/musician from New Jersey. A part of J.Cole’s protege’, I started following this dude’s music (here) for a little over a year now. However, Sunrise and The Righteous Remain have been my favorites:

Be Beautiful!

I really LOVE this song! It was written and sung by the amazingly talented Vivian Green. The song was released in 2010, and I felt the the need to hear something beautiful. How did I know I was going to stumble upon this? I don’t know, but I remembered Vivian from her 2002 hit single “Emotional Rollercoaster”  and in 2005, “Gotta Go, Gotta Leave”.

Now that I think about it? Man, Vivian Green is super talented! I’ll be patiently waiting for her next project hopefully to be relaeased later this month!

Check out some more of Vivian Green’s music!

No lie, The very first time I heard this track, it was from one my favorite motivational speakers Eric Thomas (ET The Hip Hop Preacher). I couldn’t help but immediately find out who sings this song! Upon doing some research, I found out that the Massachusetts group, Fame Or Juliet penned this track called Dreams of Reality.

There  is something about this track that speaks so many volumes to me. It’s uplifting, leaves a dose of inspiration. Most importantly, the musical production was amazing!  In all, I really hope I run into these guys in the near future…I see HUGE potential in them!

Check some more of their stuff here!
